I love Washington D.C. for many reasons, but politicians aren’t one of them. The city is rich in history and has many beautiful sculptures. I love researching sculptures to understand their meaning and history. The sculptures themselves are beautiful, but I love focusing on the small details.

Ralph Waldo Emerson had this to say:

Painting and Sculpture

The sinful painter drapes his goddess warm,
Because she still is naked, being drest;
The godlike sculptor will not so deform
Beauty, which bones and flesh enough invest.

— Ralph Waldo Emerson

Please, enjoy some of my recent photographs:

Untitled

The Bartholdi Fountain is the work of Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, the same sculptor who designed the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor.

Untitled

Flora, the Roman goddess of flowers, is a smiling, young figure with roses in her hair and in her necklace. (U.S. Botanic Garden -- click here for more information)
